Comments from parents:
"My daughter's instructor was very knowledgeable in every subject and was able to relate to my daughter and her peers in a way that made them not only enjoy the program, but had them wanting to come back and learn more!"
"Dylan was a great instructor! Both of of my boys did his 7th Jump Start Program and got so much out of it. He definitely helped with their confidence in starting and succeeding in 7th grade!" "My son very much enjoyed the camp. I hope what he learned will help him navigate 7th grade. If anything, it has instilled some confidence in him to start the year off right. The daily updates to parents were great!" |
"My daughter was excited to participate in this program. She was enthusiastic about the contents of this program and has used them even before she started the 7th grade. She is much more organized and that has helped her attack the tremendous amount of homework that she has."
"Connecting with the kids on their level was important. Mixing fun with learning is always important." "What a great program! My daughter learned how to better prepare herself for 7th grade in ways I didn't think she would! She came out of the program feeling much more confident about starting 7th grade than before!" |
Comments from students:
"The major strengths were how he connected with the students and made them feel less scared of seventh grade"
“It didn’t just teach us about studying, there were also ways to relax and how you can use technology to help with studying. I also liked the fun games.” "I liked the seventh grade jumpstart program. 7th grade is going very well thanks to the program." “I would say it’s not school at all… IT’S BETTER.” |
"I loved the program. It was like you took the fun things and more about school and put them in twelve and a half hours of camp."
"It really helped me mentally prepare for seventh grade, as well as learn more ways to keep organized. Thanks to the class, I am staying MUCH more organized than last year or any years before." "I loved it a lot and will recommend it to everyone going into 7th grade." "I would rate this 10/10 stars, best camp to help students everywhere.” |
A letter from Satisfied 2012 Parents:
Dear Parents,
We're writing to recommend Dylan Gschwind and James Gill and their week-long 7th Grade Jumpstart Program. Our sons, Vincent and Jack, just completed the course and it was a tremendous success. It was the perfect balance of work and fun and helped the boys approach 7th grade in a positive place, prepared and not so scared.
The content of the sessions was extremely helpful to the boys as they start to think about the academic importance of 7th grade, along with ISAT preparation, Science Fair and the US Constitution. James and Dylan really helped Vince and Jack work on organization, study habits, critical thinking and test taking strategies.
While that may sound like a heavy week, the boys really enjoyed the classes. Dylan and James are great (and extremely smart) kids and worked hard to balance learning with fun. They truly understand what the boys are going through and also understand how 12 year olds learn and organize themselves. Because of that the tools they gave the boys were realistic and pertinent. Jack and Vince are both really glad they invested the time and effort and feel that they're better prepared for the challenges ahead.
Each day after class Dylan and James send a detailed summary of what they worked on in class and included several helpful tips and websites to further enhance what they were teaching the boys.
So, if you're like us in that you want to get little head start on next year, we recommend that you look into James and Dylan's program. It was a great use of time and was well worth the investment.
Sincerely,
Michele Sakayan and Vicki McCall

Thoughts from 2011 participating families:
"Her increased confidence and frame of mind helped [my child] to be successful. She did much better at the beginning of the year. She did fall back into bad habits but we had two new tools: 1) the taste of success and 2) "What would Dylan say if he saw your desk, backpack, homework, etc.?"
- Mary Prekop, Bell School parent [2011 Jumpstart participant]
"[My child] liked the interaction, he thought you taught good organizational skills, he also thought the length of time was good. He went into seventh grade pumped up and ready to go. I often referred to [Dylan] when [my child] was demonstrating bad habits which was better than just me saying it was not good study habits etc..."
